Animated Tutorials

Hi everyone.
As you have noticed I am now writing animated tutorials.
I would like to thank the amazing Artist and designers for their gorgeous creations to play with.
My tutorials are written using PSP and Animation shop but there is a difference as I mostly use the .psd file for the animation and sometimes, but not often, I will use the mng file. My tutorials are very lengthy. You can always do just the tag and save it as a pspimage file and come back and try the animation part later. If you have any questions you can find me on Facebook here.

Have fun!!

Permissions

I have written permission from Engelshen's Crazy Fantasy World. to use their FTU kits in my tutorials.

My Angel

This tutorial was written by me on July 5, 2020. The results are of my own imagination.  Any resemblance to another tutorial is purely coincidental.

Please DO NOT claim this tutorial as your own.

This was written assuming you have a working knowledge of PSP.

Please keep in mind that I write the tutorial as I am creating it.

Sometimes I may not explain properly where to place things so please see my example if you are ever in doubt :)

Anytime you resize an element or tube you should sharpen it.  Go to adjust, sharpness, sharpen.

Let's get started.

Remember to save your tag often in case psp crashes.  I always save my tags as a pspimage.  It keeps all the layers and if you make tags for others you will always have the template.

Open a new 800x700 transparent image.  We will resize later.

Add a new layer and flood fill with white.

Open paper of choice.  I am using paper 11, copy and close the original.  Paste as new raster layer then go to Layers, new mask layer, from Image and locate the mask in the drop down.  Apply the mask and merge group.  Resize the mask by 95%.

Open Frame 3, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 70%, free rotate to the right by 15 degrees,  and sharpen.  Move to the upper left of the mask.  See mine for placement.  Select the magic wand and click in the center of the frame.  Selections, modify, expand by 5.  Add a new raster layer and drag this under the frame.  Open paper of choice.  I am using paper 5, copy and close the original.  Select the new raster layer, edit, paste into selections.  Select none and drop shadow the frame.

We are going to be working under the frame and paper layer for a bit.

Open element 13, copy and close the original.  Select the mask layer and paste.  Resize 40%, sharpen and drop shadow.  Move to the top right corner of stamp on the mask.

Open element 7, copy and close the original.  Select the mask layer and paste.  Resize 40%, sharpen and drop shadow.  Move to the top right corner of the frame.  Duplicate and move to the bottom left corner of the frame.

Open element 10, copy and close the original.  Select the mask layer and paste.  Resize 40% and sharpen.  Move to the top right about center of the frame edge.  Duplicate, mirror horizontal, mirror vertically, move to the left center of the frame edge.  Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 14, copy and close the original.  Select the top leaf layer and paste.  Resize 40% and sharpen.  Move to the top right so it is under the white flower.  Duplicate, mirror horizontal, mirror vertically, move to the left under the white flower.  Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 6, copy and close the original.  Select the mask layer and paste.  Resize 60%, sharpen and drop shadow.  Move to the top left corner of the frame.

Open element 2, copy and close the original.  Select the mask layer and paste.  Resize 40%, sharpen and drop shadow.  Move to the top left corner of the frame.

Open element 28, copy and close the original.  Select the second leaf layer from the mask and paste.  Resize 40%, sharpen and drop shadow.  Move to the bottom left side of the frame above the white flower.  Duplicate and move to the right side of the frame under the white flower.

Open element 32, copy and close the original.  Select the top white flower layer and paste.  Resize 40%, sharpen and drop shadow.  Move to the bottom left corner of the frame by the white flower.  Duplicate and move to the left side of the of the top white flower.

Open element 18, copy and close the original.  Select the top white flower layer and paste.  Resize 40%, sharpen and drop shadow.  Move to the top center of the frame.

Open element 5, copy and close the original.  Select the frame layer and paste.  Move to the bottom of the frame and drop shadow ( I changed the color to C0C0C0).

Open element 16, copy and close the original.  Select the frame layer and paste.  Resize 40%, sharpen and drop shadow.  Move to the left side of the frame about 1/2 way up.

Open element 1, copy and close the original.  Select the white heart layer and paste.  Resize 30%, sharpen and drop shadow.  Move to the middle of the white heart.

Open element 17, copy and close the original.  Select the frame layer and paste.  Resize 30%, sharpen and drop shadow.  Move to the very bottom of the white heart.

Open element 12, copy and close the original.  Select the frame layer and paste.  Resize 40%, sharpen and drop shadow.  Move to the bottom of the white heart.

Open element 11, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 90%, sharpen and drop shadow.  Move up and slightly to the left.

Open element 20, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 25%, sharpen and drop shadow.  Move to the bottom left at the N.

Open element 21, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 25%, sharpen and drop shadow.  Move to the bottom of the gift.

Open wordart, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 40%, sharpen and drop shadow.  Move to the lower left just at the pink flower.  Duplicate and move to the bottom right of the frame.

Open your tube.  Select the layers you would like to use.  I used mostly pink layers.  Edit, copy special, copy merged.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 65%, mirror, sharpen and drop shadow. Move up slightly.

Open element 5, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 70%, sharpen and drop shadow ( I changed the color to C0C0C0).  Move to the bottom of the tube.

Add any other elements you like and make any adjustments to the layers.

Crop away any extra space.  Resize 650 on the longest side, all layers checked.

Add your copyright and name.

If you do not want to animate.  Hide the white background layer Save your tag and export as png.

Animating the tag.  Make sure your tag is saved as a psp image file as you do not want to loose it if psp crashes.

Might want to grab a coffee :)

Open Kiya Designs animation 52 psd file in psp.  Shift + D to duplicate it and close the original.  Do not save any changes as a psd file will merge into one layer.  We do not want this to happen.  You will notice that there is 14 layers in this animation and it does not have the group layer.  That is ok as we are going to learn how to do this so it matches the animation layers of the tube.

We need to group all the layers.  Starting from layer 14, hold down your control key and select each layer so the next one will be 13 then 12 etc.  Once all the layers are selected (the layers will be highlighted in blue) we need to group them.  All layers selected?

Next we need to group these layers.  Go to Layers, New layer group.  Scroll all the way to the top and you will see Group 1 with all the odd layers as sub layers.

Select group 1, copy and close the original.  Select your tag layer and paste.  When you paste grouped layers it will always go to the top.  Standing on group one select the link icon to link all the layer.  Click the arrow beside the new group to hide all the sub layers.

Drag this group down the layer pallet to a spot you like.  I dragged it down to just just above the frame layer.  Resize the Group 1 layer by 45% all layers not checked.  Select the group 1 layer if you have not already and move up and slightly to the left.

Ok we are now finished our tag and ready to animate.

Open Animation shop and go back to psp.

With only frame 1 of the animation visible, edit, copy special, copy merged.

Back to Animation shop.

Edit, paste as new animation or keyboard shortcut Ctrl+V.

**Back to psp.
Hide Frame 1 by clicking on the eyeball and unhide frame 2 by clicking on the eyeball of each animation. Edit, copy special, copy merged.

Back to Animation Shop.

We need to paste after current frame.  Go to edit, paste after current frame.  Keyboard shortcut  Shift+Ctrl+L**

Repeat from **to** until you have 14 frames in animation shop.  It will tell you on the bottom right corner how many frames you have.

Select all, Ctrl+A on the keyboard.  Animation, Frame properties and change the animation speed to 15.

Go to file Save as, gif and click next and next until you hit finished.  I use the default settings.

I hope you have enjoyed my tutorial.  I would love to see your results.
