FTU: Who's the Wiser

This tutorial was written by me on August 23, 2017. The results are of my own imagination.  Any resemblance to another tutorial is purely coincidental.

This was written assuming you have a working knowledge of PSP.

Please keep in mind that I write the tutorial as I am creating it.

Sometimes I may not explain properly where to place things so please see my example if you are ever in doubt :)

Supplies needed

I am using PSP X9 but this tutorial should work with any version.

PTU Tube:  I am using "Raccoon" tube created by Kajenna.  Please do not use this tubes without a proper license.  You can purchase it at PFD here.  

FTU Kit:  I am using an awesome kit called "Sweet Autumn" created by Graphics of Fantasy.  You can download the kit here

Mask:  RD Mask set 132 mask 3.  You can download it from Rachel Designs here.  Open in psp and minimize.

Font of choice for name.

Plug in: None

I am using a drop shadow (D/S) of V 0 H 5, Opacity 65, blur 10, color black throughout the tutorial unless otherwise stated.

Let's get started.

Open a new 750x750 transparent image.  We will resize later.

Open paper 4, copy and close the original.  Add a new raster layer, Select all, Standing on the new layer, edit, paste into selections.  Select none.  Layers, new mask layer, from image.  In the drop down find Rachel's mask and select it.  Click ok and merge group.

Open frame 7, copy and close the original.  Select the mask layer and paste.  Resize 80% and drop shadow.  Using your magic wand, click inside the frame.  Selections, modify, expand by 5.  Open paper 1, copy and close the original.  Select the mask layer and add a new raster layer.  Standing on the new layer, edit, paste into selections.  Select none.  Drop shadow the frame and merge down.

Copy your tube, I used the raccoon, hat, cane and berry.  Copy special, copy merged and paste as a new layer.  Resize 25% and move up so it looks like he is sitting in the frame.
Drop shadow.

Open element 24, copy and close the original.  Select the frame layer and paste.  Resize 70% and move to the top right of the frame.  Drop shadow.

Open element 98, copy and close the original.  Select the mask layer and paste.  Move to the top left corner.  Duplicate and move to the top right corner.  Duplicate and mirror.  Image, free rotate to the right, 30 degrees and move the duplicate to the bottom right corner.  Using the eraser tool, erase the stem that is sticking out on the bottom.  Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 74, copy and close the original.  Select the frame layer and paste.  Move to the bottom of the top board of the frame.  Drop shadow.

Open element 73, copy and close the original.  Select the frame layer and paste.  Resize 80% and move to the bottom of the frame.  Drop shadow.

Open element 71, copy and close the original.  Select the frame layer and paste.  Resize 80% and move to the left of the frame and up slightly.  Drop shadow.

Open element 62, copy and close the original.  Select the tall grass layer and paste.  Resize 80% and move to the bottom of the frame.  Drop shadow.

Open element 59, copy and close the original.  Select the mask layer and paste.  Resize 70% and move to the bottom left.  Duplicate and mirror.  Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 17, copy and close the original.  Select the purple flower layer and paste.  Resize 60% and move to the left side of the frame.  Drop shadow.

Open element 81, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 40% and move to the bottom right so it looks like he is sitting on top of the sign.  Drop shadow.

Open element 31, copy and close the original.  Select the raccoon layer and paste.  Resize 25% and move to the lower left so the bird looks like it is sitting on the sign.  Drop shadow.

Open element 41, copy and close the original.  Select the mask layer and paste.  Resize 90% and move up slightly.

Add any other elements you like.

Merge visible.

Image, resize by 600 pixels on the longest side, all layers checked.

Adjust sharpness, Unsharpen mask, radius and clipping set to 5 and strength set to 30.  Click ok.

Add your copyright and name.

Save as png.

FTU Autumn Pup

Supplies needed

I am using PSP X9 but this tutorial should work with any version.

PTU Tube:  I am using "Sweet Doggy" tube created by Arthur Crowe.  Please do not use this tubes without a proper license.  You can purchase it at Arthur's store here.  

FTU Kit:  I am using an awesome kit called "Boohoo Yummy" created by Graphics of Fantasy.  You can download the kit here

Mask:  RD Mask set 132 mask 1.  You can download it from Rachel Designs here.  Open in psp and minimize.

 Font of choice for your name

Plug in: None

I am using a drop shadow (D/S) of V 0 H 5, Opacity 65, blur 10, color black throughout the tutorial unless otherwise stated.

Let's get started.

Open a new 750x750 transparent image.  We will resize later.

Open Element 4, copy and close the original.  Add a new raster layer, Select all, Standing on the new layer, edit, paste into selections.  Select none.  Layers, new mask layer, from image.  In the drop down find Rachel's mask and select it.  Click ok.  Merge group and resize 95% all layers not checked.  You can close of the mask now.

Open element 7, copy and close the original.  Select the mask layer and paste.  Resize 60%.  Using your magic wand, click inside the frame.  Selections, modify, expand by 5.  Add a new raster layer and move it under the frame.  Open element 3, copy and close the original.  Standing on the new layer, edit, paste into selection.  Do not deselect.  Copy your tube, standing on the new paper layer, past the dog.  Move until the dogs face is in the frame.  Selections, invert and hit delete on your keyboard.  Select none.  Change the blend mode to Multiply and lower the opacity to 60.  Merge down the dog to the paper layer.  Drop shadow the frame and merge down to the paper layer.  Move to the upper left.

Copy your tube, select the frame layer and paste. Resize 50% and move to the right side of the frame and drop shadow.

Open element 18, copy and close the original.  Select the frame layer and paste.  Move to the bottom of the frame and drop shadow.

Open element 46, copy and close the original.  Select the mask layer and paste.  Resize 80% and move up slightly and to the right, so it shows past the frame.  Drop shadow.

Open element 12, copy and close the original.  Select the frame layer and paste.  Resize 70% and move to the top left of the frame and drop shadow.

Open element 25, copy and close the original.  Select the bush layer and paste.  Resize 60% and move to the bottom left and drop shadow.

Open element 19, copy and close the original.  Select the frame layer and paste.  Resize 40% and move to the right of the frame so it is behind the pup.  Duplicate and move this layer above the bush layer.  Move to the bottom left so it peeks out from behind the pumpkin.  Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 35, copy and close the original.  Select the tree layer and paste.  Move to the top left.  Duplicate and move the layer above the top sunflower layer.  Resize 30% and move to the bottom right so it peeks out from behind the pumpkin.  Duplicate and mirror.  Move to the bottom center so it is behind the smaller pumpkins.  Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 31, copy and close the original.  Select the frame layer and paste.  Move slightly up and to the left.

Open element 39, copy and close the original.  Select the frame layer and paste.  Resize 60% and move to the right side of the frame.  Drop shadow.

Open element 26, copy and close the original.  Select the Pumpkin light layer and paste.  Resize 40% and move to the bottom left so it is behind the sunflower and pumpkin.  Drop shadow.

Open element 27, copy and close the original.  Select the pumpkin light layer and paste.  Resize 35% and move to the bottom center so it is between the orange flower and pup.  Drop shadow.

Open element 28, copy and close the original.  Select the pumpkin light layer and paste.  Resize 35% and move to the bottom right so it peeks out from behind the pup.  Drop shadow.

Open element 22, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 25% and move to the bottom left so it over laps the two pumpkins on the bottom.  Duplicate and resize 90%.  Move to the center two pumpkins of the pup.  Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 21, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 15% and move to the bottom center of the pup so it slightly overlaps the yellow leaf.  Duplicate and move this layer just above the pup layer.  Move to the bottom left of the yellow leaf.  Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 47, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 25% and move to the bottom center of the two leaf cluster.  Drop shadow.

Open element 43, copy and close the original.  Select the tube layer and paste.  Resize 25% and move to the bottom center of the two pumpkins on the tube.  Drop shadow.

Add any other elements you like.

Merge visible.

Image, resize by 600 pixels on the longest side, all layers checked.

Adjust sharpness, Unsharpen mask, radius and clipping set to 5 and strength set to 30.  Click ok.

Add your copyright and name.

Save as png.

FTU: Gothic Sea Beauty

Supplies needed

I am using PSP X9 but this tutorial should work with any version.

PTU Tube:  I am using "Summer" tube created by Misticheskaya.  Please do not use this tubes without a proper license.

FTU Kit:  I am using an awesome kit called "Sweet Gothic Pirates" created by Graphics of Fantasy.  You can download the kit here

Mask:  Mask set 158 mask 4 by Rachel Designs. You can download it here.  

FTU Font Creature Feature.  You can download it from Dafont here.

Plug in: None

I am using a drop shadow (D/S) of V 0 H 5, Opacity 85, blur 10, color black throughout the tutorial unless otherwise stated.

Let's get started.

Open a new 750x750 transparent image.  We will resize later.

Add a new raster layer and select all.

Open paper 5, copy and close the original.  Edit, paste into selection, select none.  Apply your mask and merge group.

Open element 26, copy and close the original.  Select the mask layer and paste.  Move to the top center and drop shadow.

Copy your tube, I used Green Naiad layer. Select the moon layer and paste.  Resize 35% and drop shadow.

Paste your tube layer again.  Move to the upper left so you can see her face in the moon.  Select the mask layer, select all, float, defloat, invert and standing on the tube layer, hit delete on your keyboard.  Select none.  (Ctrl + Z can be your friend if you do not like the placement.  One of my favorite keyboard shortcuts).  Change the blend mode to multiply and lower the opacity to 70.  Now using your eraser tool, Size set to 50, hardness 25, step 1, density, thickness and opacity set to 100, erase the portion of the tube around the outside of the moon and mask.

Open element 7, copy and close the original.  Select the moon layer and paste.  Image, flip and move to the bottom center so it is behind the tube.

Open element 128, copy and close the original.  Select the water layer and paste.  Move to the bottom far left.  Duplicate and mirror.  Duplicate the original one more time and flip.  Move to the bottom center.

Open element 55, copy and close the original.  Select the top water layer and paste.  Move to the left so it covers the edge of the water, duplicate, and mirror.  Move this layer down a bit.  Move the copy layer under the original layer.

Open element 131, select the bottom brush layer and paste.  Move up slightly and drop shadow.

Open element 11, copy and close the original.  Select the moon layer and paste.  Resize 50% and move to the left side so it slightly covers the moon's edge.  Duplicate and mirror.  Move up slightly.  Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 81, copy and close the original.  Select the top brush layer and paste.  Resize 40% and move to the far left.  Drop shadow.  See my example for placement.

Open element 106, copy and close the original.  Select the moon layer and paste.  Resize 70% and move to the top left.  Drop shadow.

Open element 111, copy and close the original.  Select the candle layer and paste.  Resize 40% and move to the bottom left so it is in front of the candle.  Drop shadow.

Open element 119, copy and close the original.  Select the mask layer and paste.  Resize 70% and move to the upper left corner and drop shadow.  You may need to erase a little portion that sticks out on the left side of the bush.

Open element 64, copy and close the original.  Select the top water layer and paste.  Resize 40% and mirror move to the right so it is behind the ship.  Drop shadow.

Open element 40, copy and close the original.  Select the bottom book layer and paste.  Resize 40% and move to the far right so it covers the bottom of the books.  Duplicate and mirror.  Move slightly to the left.  Duplicate the mirror copy and move this layer above the top book layer and move slightly to the right so it covers the bottom of the book.  Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 44, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 40% and move to the bottom left so it looks like it is coming out of the center of the fern.  Drop shadow.

Open element 104, copy and close the original.  Select the top fern layer and paste.  Resize 35% and move to the bottom right so it is behind the tube's skirt.  Drop shadow.

Open element 108, copy and close the original.  Select the top book layer and paste.  Image, free rotate to the left 90 degrees, all layers not checked.  Move to the bottom right so it covers the brush bottom.  Drop shadow.

Open element 93, copy and close the original.  Select the bottle layer and paste.  Resize 15% and move to the bottom right of the bottle.  Drop shadow.

Open element 4, copy and close the original.  Select the tube layer and paste.  Image, mirror and move to the bottom left.

Open element 21, copy and close the original.  Select the top fern layer and paste.  Resize 30% and move to the bottom right so it is between the bottle and glass.  Drop shadow.

Open element 39, copy and close the original.  Select the top fern layer and paste.  Resize 20% and move to the right so it is between the tube and skull bottle.  Drop shadow.

Open element 99, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 30% and move to the bottom right so it is beside her knee.  Drop shadow.

Add any other elements you like.

Merge visable.

Image, resize by 600 pixels on the longest side, all layers checked.

Adjust sharpness, Unsharpen mask, radius and clipping set to 5 and strength set to 30.  Click ok.

Add your copyright and name.

Save as png.

Mask:  Rachel Designs mask set 150 mask 1.  You can download it here.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer.  If you are using the same tube as I am, resize 30% and add a drop shadow.

Open element 42, copy and close the original.  Select the mask layer and paste  Resize 70% and drop shadow.  Move slightly up and to the left.

Open element 48, copy and close the original.  Select the book layer and paste.  Drop shadow.  Move up slightly so it looks like she is sitting on the pillows.

Open element 46, copy and close the original.  Select the mask layer and paste.  Resize 70% and move to the bottom left so it lines up with the grass from the pillows.  Drop shadow.

Open element 69, copy and close the original.  Select the mask layer and paste.  Resize 80% and move to the left and up so you see the castle above the book.  Drop shadow.

Open element 36, copy and close the original.  Select the book layer and resize 30%.  Move to the bottom right and drop shadow.

Open element 40, copy and close the original.  Select the tree layer and paste.  Resize 70% and move to the upper right corner.  Drop shadow.

Open element 60, copy and close the original.  Select the mask layer and paste.  Resize 70% and move up and over slightly to the right.  Drop shadow.

Open element 28, copy and close the original.  Select the pillow layer and paste.  Resize 50% and move to the bottom left so it is behind the tubes knee.  Drop shadow.

Open element 43, copy and close the original.  Select the pillow layer and paste.  Resize 50% and move to the bottom left so it is behind the tubes legs.  Drop shadow.

Open element 5, copy and close the original.  Select the large tree layer and paste.  Move to the top center.

Open element 33, copy and close the original.  Select the mushroom house layer and paste.  Resize 30% and move to the bottom left so it is behind the pillows.  Drop shadow.

Open element 41, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 40% and move to the bottom left so it is in front of her foot.  Drop shadow.

Open element 8, copy and close the original.  Select the tree layer with the castle and paste.  Resize 50% and mirror.  Move to the far left middle.  Drop shadow.

Open element 37, copy and close the original.  Select the harp layer and paste.  Resize 40% and mirror.  Move behind the mushroom house and drop shadow.

Open element 70, copy and close the original.  Select the tube layer and paste.  Resize 70% and move to the bottom left so the long daisy is just in front of her foot.  Duplicate and mirror.  Move this layer under the tube and to the far right so it covers the edge of the grass.  Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 50, copy and close the original.  Select the bottom scatter flower layer and paste.  Resize 70% and drop shadow.

Add any other elements you like.

Merge visible.

Image, resize by 600 pixels on the longest side, all layers checked.

Adjust sharpness, Unsharpen mask, radius and clipping set to 5 and strength set to 30.  Click ok.

Add your copyright and name.

Save as png.
