PTU: African Beauty

This tutorial was written by me on August 11, 2018. The results are of my own imagination.  Any resemblance to another tutorial is purely coincidental.

This was written assuming you have a working knowledge of PSP.

Please keep in mind that I write the tutorial as I am creating it.

Sometimes I may not explain properly where to place things so please see my example if you are ever in doubt :)

Supplies needed

I am using PSP 2018 but this tutorial should work with any version.

PTU Tube:  I am using Enchantress by Misticheskaya.  You can find this in the exclusive section at PDF  Please do not use this tubes without a proper license.

PTU Kit:  I am using a stunning kit called "African Beauty" created by Pink Paradox Productions.  You can purchase the kit here

Mask:  Viv Mask 41.  Created by Vivienne's Paintbox.  You can download it here.  Click on the mask to enlarge it, right click and save as.  Open and minimize in PSP.

FTU Font Out of Africa.  You can download it from Dafont here.

Plug in: None

I am using a drop shadow (D/S) of V 0 H 5, Opacity 65, blur 10, color black throughout the tutorial unless otherwise stated.

Let's get started.

Open a new 800x800 transparent image.  We will resize later.

Add a new raster layer and select all.

Open paper 51, copy and close the original.  Select the new raster layer, edit and paste into selections.  Select none.  Layers, new mask layer from image.  Click on the drop down and locate Viv mask 41 and click ok.  Merge group.

Open element 149, copy and close the original.  Select the mask layer and paste.  Resize 60% and move to the top center of the mask.  Drop shadow.

Copy your tube and paste as a new layer.  Resize 25% and move to the bottom of the mask and slightly to the left.  Drop shadow.

Open element 83, copy and close the original.  Select the tree layer and paste.  Resize 35% and move to the bottom left so it is behind the tube.  Drop shadow

Open element 130, copy and close the original.  Select the drum layer and paste.  Resize 35% and move to the bottom of the drum.  Drop shadow.

Open element 126, copy and close the original.  Select the tree layer and paste.  Resize 35% and move to the bottom left so it peeks out behind the drum.  Drop shadow.

Open element 135, copy and close the original.  Select the drum layer and paste.  Resize 30% and move to the front of the drum.  Drop shadow.

Open element 47, copy and close the original.  Select the tall grass layer and paste.  Resize 20% and move to the bottom of the drum.  Drop shadow.

Open element 123, copy and close the original.  Select the fern layer and paste.  Resize 30% and mirror.  Move to the bottom right side of the tube and drop shadow.

Open element 129, copy and close the original.  Select the fern layer and paste.  Resize 30% and move to the bottom right of the tube.  Drop shadow.

Open element 137, copy and close the original.  Select the tree layer and paste.  Resize 40% and move to the bottom of the tube so it look like she is sitting on it.  Duplicate and move this up and to the right slightly.  Move this layer under the original grass layer.

Open element 150, copy and close the original.  Select the tree layer and paste.  Resize 60% and move up slightly.  Drop shadow.

Open element 7, copy and close the original.  Select the bottom tree layer and paste.  Resize 40% and move to the upper right side of the tree.  Drop shadow.

Open element 22, copy and close the original.  Select the mask layer and paste.  Resize 50% and mirror.  Move to the upper left side so it looks like it is eating the tree.  Drop shadow.

Open element 41, copy and close the original.  Select the elephant layer and paste.  Resize 35% and move to the lower far right side.  Drop shadow.

Open element 142, copy and close the original.  Select the statue layer and paste.  Resize 35% and move down and to the right so it covers part of the statue.  Duplicate and move up and to the left so it shows behind the tube.  Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 64, copy and close the original.  Select the fern layer and paste.  Resize 35% and move to the bottom so it shows behind the tube on the right side.  Drop shadow.

Open element 113, copy and close the original.  Select the layer just under your tube layer and paste.  Resize 15% and move to the bottom left just behind her feet.  Drop shadow.

Open element 10, copy and close the original.  Select the flower cluster layer and paste.  Resize 20% and move to the bottom right.  Drop shadow.

Open element 111, copy and close the original.  Select the top flower layer and paste.  Resize 20% and move to the bottom right in front of the flower cluster.  Duplicate and move in front of the monkey.   Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 140, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 30% and move to the bottom so it covers the knee of the tube.  Drop shadow.

Open element 117, copy and close the original.  Select the top leaf layer and paste.  Resize 25%, image, free rotate to the right 90 degrees.  Move to the bottom right and drop shadow.

Open element 114, copy and close the original.  Select the tube layer and paste.  Resize 15% and move to the bottom center of the leaves.  Drop shadow.

Add any other elements you like.

Merge visable.

Image, resize by 600 pixels on the longest side, all layers checked.

Adjust sharpness, Unsharpen mask, radius 1 and clipping set to 2 and strength set to 50.  Click ok.

Add your copyright and name.

Save as png.

FTU: Autumn Days

Supplies needed

I am using PSP 2018 but this tutorial should work with any version.

PTU Tube:  I am using Verymany's Fox.  Please do not use this tubes without a proper license.  
You can purchase it at Verymany's store here.  

FTU Kit:  I am using an awesome kit called "Autumn Days" created by ZaZa.  You can download the kit from scrap and tubes blog here

Mask:  Autumn Mask 6.  Created by Dees' Sign Depot.  You can download it from her blog here.  Open and minimize in PSP.

Font of choice for your name

Plug in: None

I am using a drop shadow (D/S) of V 2 H 5, Opacity 68, blur 12.87

Let's get started.

Open a new 700x700 transparent image.  We will resize later.

Open paper 2, copy and close the original.  Add a new raster layer, select all, edit, paste into selection.  

Layers, new mask layer, from image.  Find DD Autumn mask 6 in the drop down and click ok.  Merge group.  Duplicate and merge down.  Image flip and move down slightly.

Open element 6, copy and close the original.  Select the mask layer and paste.  Resize 70% and move up slightly.  Using your magic wand, click in each of the windows.  Selections, modify, expand by 3.  Add a new raster layer under the frame layer.  Open paper 1, copy and close the original.  Standing on the new raster layer, edit, paste into selections.  Select none and drop shadow the frame.

Select the paper layer under the frame.  Paste your tube and resize 70% and mirror.  Select the paper layer, select all, float, defloat.  Position your tube into a place you like.  Once happy with the placement, selections, invert and hit delete on your keyboard.  Select none.  Change the blend mode to Multiply and lower the opacity to 70%.

Paste your tube as a new layer and resize 35% and drop shadow.

Open element 9, copy and close the original.  Select the frame layer and paste.  Resize 60% and move to the bottom right corner.  Drop shadow.

Open element 40, copy and close the original.  Select the mask layer and paste.  Resize 60% and move to the upper left corner of the frame so only part of it shows behind it.  Duplicate and mirror.  Move up slightly.  Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 39, copy and close the original.  Select the top yellow flower layer and paste.  Resize 70% and move to the upper center slightly to the left.  Duplicate and mirror.  Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 42, copy and close the original.  Select the frame layer and paste.  Resize 50% and move to the left edge of the frame.  Drop shadow.

Open element 27, copy and close the original.  Select the grape layer and paste.  Resize 50% and move to the top left corner of the frame.  Duplicate and mirror.  Move up slightly.  Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 17, copy and close the original.  Select the top grape layer and paste.  Move to the far right so it is behind the flowers.  Duplicate and resize 70%.  Move this layer just above the frame layer and move to the bottom left corner.  Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 41, copy and close the original.  Select the bottom brush layer and paste.  Resize 50% and mirror.  Move to the bottom left corner and drop shadow.

Open element 23, copy and close the original.  Select the house layer and paste.  Resize 20% and move so it looks like it is perched on the peg of the house.  Drop shadow.

Open element 25, copy and close the original.  Select the flower cluster layer and paste.  Resize 30% and move to the bottom right of the flowers.  Duplicate and mirror.  Move slightly to the right.  Duplicate the original again and move behind the front legs of the fox.  Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 2, copy and close the original.  Select the fox layer and paste.  Resize 30% and move to the bottom right so it slightly covers part of the fox's tail.  Drop shadow.

Open element 1, copy and close the original.  Select the second leaf layer and paste.  Resize 30% and move to the bottom left so it covers part of the house and is behind the fox.  Drop shadow.

Open element 3, copy and close the original.  Select the fox layer and paste.  Resize 20% and move behind the top opening of the red apples.  Duplicate and move to the bottom opening of the apples.  Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 24, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 20% and move in front of the apples.  Drop shadow.

Open element 15, copy and close the original.  Select the fox layer and paste.  Resize 20% and move to the bottom right behind the apples.  Drop shadow.

Open element 36, copy and close the original.  Select the layer under the fox and paste.  Resize 40% and move to the bottom so it is under the fox.  Duplicate and mirror, move slightly to the right.  Drop shadow each layer.

Add any other elements you like.

Merge visable.

Crop your image to your liking.  I use merge opaque setting.

Image, resize by 600 pixels on the longest side, all layers checked.

Adjust sharpness, Unsharpen mask, radius 1 and clipping 2 and strength set to 50.  Click ok.

Add your copyright and name.

Save as png.

FTU: A hint of Goth

Supplies needed:

Programs, PSP of choice.  I am using PSP 2018.  Animation Shop (Optional).

I am using Verymany's "Queen of Shadows".  Please do not use this tubes without a proper license.   You can purchase it at Verymany's Store here.  

FTU Kit:  I am using an awesome kit called "A Hint of Goth" created by Mizteeque.  You can download the kit from her blog here

Mask:  Mask 48.  Created by Vivienne's Paintbox.  You can download it here.  Scroll down, left click on the mask to enlarge it then right click and save as.  Open and minimize in PSP.

Fog Animation by Scrappy Bit of Fun (Optional).  I used the second fog.  You can download it here.  http://scrappybitoffun.blogspot.com/2014/01/freebie-alert.html ****Simone is closing her blog but it was still up and running at the time I created this tutorial.  If you are going to animate, open the animation in psp and duplicate (shift + D)  Select the top layer, Layers, new layer group.  You will notice it is slightly indented.  Select the layer below and drag this layer just under the indent layer.  You will notice you now have 2 indented layers.  Repeat until all the layers are in the group.

Font of choice for your name.

Plug in: None

Let's get started.

Open a new 750x800 transparent image and flood fill it with white.   We will resize later. 

Add a new raster layer and select all.  Open paper of choice, I used paper 7, copy and close the original.  Select the new layer and edit, paste into selections.  Select none.  Layers, new mask layer, from image.  In the drop down find Vivienne's mask 48 and click ok.  Merge group and resize 95%.  You can now close out the original mask as we no longer need it.

Open element 29, copy and close the original.  Paste as a new layer and resize 70%.  Move to the top center and drop shadow.

Open element 21, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 50% and duplicate.  On the duplicate, mirror, and flip.  Move over the original and merge down.  Duplicate again.  Move one to the upper right and the other to the left about halfway down.  Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 53, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 70% and move to the upper middle.  Using your magic wand, click inside each opening on the window.  Selections, modify, expand by 5.  Add a new raster layer and move under the stone window.  Open paper of choice.  I am using paper 6, copy and close the original.  Standing on the new raster layer,  Edit, paste into selections.  Select none and drop shadow the stone window and merge down to the paper layer.

Open your tube, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 43% and move up and to the right.  Drop shadow.

Open element 44, copy and close the original.  Select the top flower cluster and paste.  Resize 60% and move to the left and up slightly so it peeks out from behind the stone window.  Duplicate and mirror.  Move down and to the right so it peeks out from behind the tube.  Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 52, copy and close the original.  Select the stone window layer and paste.  Resize 40% and move to the right middle so it shows behind her back.  Drop shadow.

Open element 38, copy and close the original.  Select the stone window layer and paste.  Resize 65% and move to the bottom center.  Drop shadow.

Open element 7, copy and close the original.  Select the stone window layer and paste.  Resize 70% and move to the left side of the window.  Duplicate and move to the right so it is behind the clock and tube.  Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 66, copy and close the original.  Select the layer under the clock and paste.  Resize 45%, image free rotate to the left by 90 degrees.  Using your magic wand, click inside the frame.  Selections, modify, expand by 5.  Add a new raster layer under the frame.  Open paper of choice.  I am using paper 2, copy and close the original.  Standing on the new raster layer, edit, paste into selections.  Keep Selected.  Copy the close-up tube and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45% and move into the frame.  Selections, invert and hit delete on your keyboard.  Select none and change the blend mode of the tube to soft light.  Merge down to the paper layer.  Drop shadow the frame and merge down.  Image, free rotate to the left by 20 degrees and move slightly up and to the left.  Resize by 95% and repeat.

Open element 16, copy and close the original.  Select the frame layer and paste.  Resize 20% and move to the bottom right corner of the frame.  Duplicate and mirror.  Move this layer above the tube layer and move the rose to the bottom right of the tube.  Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 22, copy and close the original.  Select the clock layer and paste.  Resize 20% and move to the bottom right so it is between the clock and red rose.  Duplicate and move to the top left of the frame.  Resize 90% and reposition.  Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 57, copy and close the original.  Select the tube layer and paste.  Resize 17% and move to the bottom left corner of the frame.  Drop shadow.

Open element 61, copy and close the original.  Select the tube layer and paste.  Resize 25% and move to the bottom right.  Drop shadow.

Open element 3, copy and close the original.  Select the clock layer and paste.  Resize 25% and move to the bottom left of the frame.  Duplicate and mirror.  Move to the right slightly.  Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 2, copy and close the original.  Select the layer under the tube, paste and resize 40%.  Image, free rotate to the left 90 degrees and move behind the right side of the tube.  Drop shadow.

Open element 8, copy and close the original.  Select the skull layer and paste.  Image, free rotate to the right by 90 degreesResize 70% and move to the bottom right so it covers the edge of the tube.  Duplicate and move up slightly and to the left.  Move this layer under the original.  Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 18, copy and close the original.  Select the skull layer and paste.  Resize 30%, free rotate to the right 60 degrees.  Move to the bottom right so the rose is covering part of her leg.  Duplicate and mirror move slightly to the right.  Drop shadow each layer.

Open element 34, copy and close the original.  Select the rose layer just above the frame.  Paste and resize 30%.  Move to the bottom center of the frame.  Drop shadow.

Open element 56, copy and close the original.  Select the tube layer and paste.  Resize 20% and move to the bottom center.  Drop shadow.

Add any other elements you like.

If you are not going to animate, delete the white background and merge visible.

Crop, merge opaque.

Image resize 600 pixels on the longest side, all layers checked.

Adjust Sharpness, Unsharpen Mask, radius 1, clipping set to 2 and strength set to 50.  Click ok.

If you are going to animate you will need to adjust sharpness on each layer.

Add your copyright and name.  If you are not going to animate, save as png.

Animation:

Maximize the group animation. Select the top layer and resize 40%.  Copy.

Select your tag.

Select the stone window layer and paste.  Using the pick tool, move to the bottom left of the tag so it is behind the skull and frame.  Paste again and move to the upper center of the stone window.  Select the clock layer and paste again.  Move to the right so it is covering the bottom of the clock.  Make sure all layers are hidden except for the top group layer and the very bottom layer of the group.  If it is easier for you to rename each layer in each group 1, 2, 3 etc.

With all layer ones visible, edit, copy special, copy merged.  Go to animation shop and paste as a new animation. Ctrl + V  Back to psp.

Hide layer one on all the animation and open layer two.  Edit, copy special, copy merged.  Back to animation shop.  Paste after current frame or ctrl+shit+L

Repeat the above step until all of the animation frames have been copied and pasted in animation shop.  You should have 14 frames.  Save as gif.
