Ghost and the Machine

This tutorial was written by me on October 23, 2016. The results are of my own imagination.  Any resemblance to another tutorial is purely coincidental.

Please DO NOT claim this tutorial as your own.

This was written assuming you have working knowledge of PSP.

Please keep in mind that I write the tutorial as I am creating it.

Sometimes I may not explain properly where to place things so please see my example if you are ever in doubt :)

Supplies needed

I am using PSP X9 but this tutorial should work with any version.

PTU Tube:  I am using an awesome tube called "Hallowqueen " created by Keith Garvey.  Please do not use this tube with out a proper license.  You can purchase this at Keith's store here.

FTU Kit:  I am using a awesome scrap kit called "Ghosts in the Machine" by Digicats (and Dogs).  You can download it from her blog here.

Mask:  WSL mask 532.  You can download it from WeescotsLass Creations blog here.

Font of choice for you name.  I am using Ink and Bones.  This is a FTU font and can be downloaded from Dafont here.

I am using a drop shadow (D/S) of V/H 2, Opacity 50, blur 5, color black throughout the tutorial unless otherwise stated.

Let's get started.

Open a new 600x600 transparent image.

Copy your tube and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75%, all layers not checked.  Adjust>sharpness>sharpen.  Drop shadow.

Open frame 6, copy and close the original.  Select raster 1 and paste.  Resize 50% and move to the upper left corner.

Using your magic wand, click inside the frame.  Selections, modify, expand by 5.  Copy the middle close up tube and paste.  Position the tube so the face is in the middle of the frame.  Do not deselect.

Open paper 20, copy and close the original.  Select raster 1 and add a new raster layer.  Standing on the new layer, go to edit>paste into selections.  Do not deselect.  Select your close up tube layer, Selections>invert and hit delete on your keyboard.  Do not deselect.  Add a new raster layer above the close up tube layer.  Open Spider Web element and copy.  Standing on your new raster layer, edit>paste into selection.   Select none.  Change the blend mode on your close up tube to screen.  Drop shadow the frame.

Open full moon, copy and close the original.  Select raster 1 and paste.  Resize 80% and move to the upper right corner.

Open spider, copy and close the original.  Select the frame layer and paste.  Resize 25% and move to the upper right of the web.  Image>free rotate>right>20 degrees and drop shadow.

Open Gargoyle, copy and close the original.  Select the spider layer and paste.  Resize 70% and move the gargoyle so it is peeking out from behind the tubes cap.  Drop shadow.

Open Firestand, copy and close the original.  Select the frame layer and paste.  Resize 50% and move to the bottom left so the flame is at the bottom center of the frame.

Open Skulls, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 20% and move to the bottom left so it covers the bottom left side of the cape.  Drop shadow.

Open Book of Secrets, copy and close the original.  Select the firestand layer and paste.  Resize 25% and move to the bottom left so it is in behind the skulls.  Image>free rotate to the left 20 degrees.  Drop shadow.

Open Candles, copy and close the original.  Select the book layer and paste.  Resize 25% and move to the bottom left beside the skulls.

Open Crystal Ball, copy and close the original.  Select the book layer and paste.  Resize 30% and move to the bottom left so it is behind the candles.  Drop shadow.

Open Green potion, copy and close the original.  Select the book layer and paste.  Resize 30% and move to the bottom left so it is peeking out from behind the left side of the tube and behind the skulls.  Drop shadow.

Open Tree 01, copy and close the original.  Select the spider layer and paste.  Resize 70% and move it to the left so the trunk is behind the gargoyle.  Drop shadow.

Open Tree 02, copy and close the original.  Select the moon layer and paste.  Resize 70% and move up and slightly to the right so the tree is in front of the moon.  Drop shadow.

Open Tombstone 4, copy and close the original.  Select the candle layer and paste.  Resize 60% and move slightly to the right so it is behind the gargoyle.  Drop shadow.

Open grass, copy and close the original.  Select the top tree layer and paste.  Resize 50% and move to the bottom left so it is under the candle.  Duplicate and move slightly to the right.  Merge down.  Duplicate and move to the right and slightly up.  Duplicate again and move this layer above the moon layer and move slightly up.

Open Tombstone 3, copy and close the original.  Select the Tombstone 4 layer and paste.  Resize 40% and move to the bottom right so it peeks out from the gargoyle.  Drop shadow.

Open mist, copy and close the original.  Select the top tree layer and paste.  Apply WSL Mask 532 and merge group.

Open Raven, copy and close the original.  Select the top tombstone layer and paste.  Resize 30% and move him to the right so it looks like he is sitting on the green tombstone.  Drop shadow.

Open paper of choice.  I am using paper 5, copy and close the original.  Select raster 1 and paste.  Apply WSL mask 532 and merge group.

Add any other elements you like.
