PTU: Steam it Up

This tutorial was written by me on May 21, 2016. The results are of my own imagination.  Any resemblance to another tutorial is purely coincidental.

Please DO NOT claim this tutorial as your own.

This was written assuming you have working knowledge of PSP.

Please keep in mind that I write the tutorial as I am creating it.

Sometimes I may not explain properly where to place things so please see my example if you are ever in doubt :)

Supplies needed

I am using PSP X8 but this tutorial should work with any version.

PTU Tube:  I am using a gorgeous tubes called "Steampunk 3" created by VeryMany.  Please do not use this tubes without a proper licence.  You can purchase this beauty at VeryMany's store here.

PTU Kit:  I am using an awesome kit called "Steampunk Heaven" created by Dance in the Rain.  You can purchase this gorgeous kit at Digi Diva's Store here

Check out her blog here

Mask:  WSL mask 133.  You can download it at Weescotslass Creations blog here.

Font of choice for your name.

Plug in: None

I am using a drop shadow (D/S) of V/H 2, Opacity 50, blur 5, color black throughout the tutorial unless otherwise stated.

Let's get started.

Open a new 650x650 transparent image.  We will resize later.

Copy your main tube and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40% all layers not checked, adjust, sharpness, sharpen.  D/S.

Open element 69, copy and close the original.  Select the tube layer and paste.  Resize 60% and again by 90% move to the bottom center.  D/S

Open paper of choice.  I am using paper 6, copy and close the original.  Select raster 1 and paste.  Apply WSL mask 133 but do not merge group yet.  Select your close up tube and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60% and move it to the right or a spot you like best.  Once happy with placement, move the close-up tube layer under the mask and above the paper layer.  Change the blend mode of the tube to luminance legacy and lower the opacity to 60.  Merge group.

Open element 23, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 25% and move to the bottom right corner so it covers the end of the wood.  D/S

Open element 49, copy and close the original.  Select your tube layer and paste.  Resize 40% and move to the bottom left so the bottom lines up with the wood.  D/S

Open element 55, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 20% and move to the bottom left so it covers the bottom gear.  D/S

Open element 62, copy and close the original.  Select the mask layer and paste.  Resize 45% and move to the upper left corner.  D/S

Open element 119, copy and close the original.  Select the mask layer and paste.  Resize 70% and move to the far left.  D/S

Open element 122, copy and close the original.  Select the tube layer and paste.  Resize 40% and move to the bottom right so it is peeking out from behind the flowers and boots.  Adjust, sharpness, sharpen.

Open element 187, copy and close the original.  Select the flower layer and paste.  Resize 40% and move to the bottom left beside the top gear of the flower box.  D/S

Open element 10, copy and close the original.  Select the tube layer and paste.  Resize 35% and move to the bottom center of the flower box.  The heel of the boot should be on it slightly.

Open element 43, copy and close the original.  Select the tube layer and paste.  Resize 15% and move to the bottom right corner beside the boots.  Duplicate and mirror bring this layer just under the hat layer and move the flower under it so the flower is peeking out from it.  Duplicate again and move this layer just above the clock layer and move to the left of the clock. Duplicate again and move to the top beside the tubes head and move this layer just above the mask layer.

Open element 191, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 35% and move to the bottom center.  D/S using V/H 1, Opacity 100, blur 1.

Open element 246, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 10% and move to the bottom center on top of the orange flowers.  D/S

Add any other elements you like.

Merge visible.

Select your crop tool and then select the merge opaque button on the toolbar.  Click ok.

Image resize, by pixels, change the height to 600 and the width will fill in automatically.  All layers checked.  Click ok.

Adjust, Sharpen, Unsharpen mask with the following settings:  Radius 5, Strength 10, clipping 5 click ok.

Now you can add your copyright and name.

Save as png.

I hope you have enjoyed my tutorial.  I would love to see your results.

Hugs,

Gwils
