PTU Tropical Birthday

This tutorial was written by me on April 17, 2016. The results are of my own imagination.  Any resemblance to another tutorial is purely coincidental.

Please DO NOT claim this tutorial as your own.

This was written assuming you have working knowledge of PSP.

Please keep in mind that I write the tutorial as I am creating it.

Supplies needed

I am using PSP X8 but this tutorial should work with any version.

PTU Tube:  I am using an awesome tube called Birthday Tube created by
VeryMany.  Please do not use these tubes without a proper licence.
You can purchase VeryMany's tubes here.  I purchased this tube a SATC when it was open.

PTU Kit:  I am using a matching scrapkit called Tropical Birthday by Pink Paradox Productions.  You can purchase this gorgeous kit here

Mask:  WSL Mask 241 created by WeeScotsLass Creations.  You can download it from her blog here.

FTU Font: Vanessa.  You can download it here.

I am using a drop shadow (D/S) of V/H 2, Opacity 50, blur 5, color black throughout the tutorial unless otherwise stated.

Let's get started.

Open a new 600x600 transparent image.

Copy your main tube and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60% all layers not checked. D/S

Open frame 7, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 60% all layers not checked.

Now the fun part.  Select your Selection tool settings below and make a selection around the portion of the tube you would like above your frame.  See my example below.  Right click on your tube layer and promote selection to layer.  Select your tube layer again (if your layer selection moved) and hit delete on your keyboard.  Select none and move your promoted layer to the top.  Select your bottom tube layer again and either use the selection tool again to select the legs that are sticking out from the frame or your eraser tool.  If you use you selection tool, just hit delete on your keyboard once you have made your selection.

Select your magic wand with the following settings:

Select your frame layer and click inside it.  Selections, modify, expand by 5.  Open paper of choice.  I am using paper 22, copy and close the original.  Select raster 1 and add a new raster layer.  Standing on the new raster layer, edit, paste into selections.  Select none and drop shadow the frame.

Open element 68, copy and close the original.  Select raster 1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60% and move to the bottom center.  See mine for placement.

Open element 75, copy and close the original.  Select raster 1 and paste.  Resize 50% and move to the far left so it peaks out from behind the frame and the bottom of the fence is under the sand.  Duplicate and mirror.  Move down slightly and to the left slightly.  See mine for placement.

Open element 72, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 25% and move to the bottom right.  D/S.  See mine for placement.

Open element 102, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 30% and move to the bottom left just in front of the fence/frame.  I duplicated mine 3 more times and move them under the beach sign (top and left bottom corner) and mirrored the 3rd and moved it under the fence on the left.

Open element 38, copy and close the original.  Select the clump of grass layer just under the beach sign and paste.  Resize 30% and move to the far right side.  See mine for placement.  D/S

Open element 64, copy and close the original.  Select the beach layer and paste.  Resize 15% and move to the bottom left just behind the grass and it should be peaking out just above.  See mine for placement.  D/S

Open element 62, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 15% and move to the bottom left just in front of the grass cluster.  D/S  See mine for placement.

Open element 61, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 15% and move to the bottom left just so it over laps the star fish and slightly to the right of it.  D/S  See mine for placement.

Open element 41, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 20% and move to the bottom so it covers the left corner of the beach sign.  D/S  See mine for placement.

Open element 49, copy and close the original.  Select the beach sign layer and paste.  Resize 30% and move to the far bottom left.  See mine for placement.  D/S

Open element 105, copy and close the original.  Select the beach sign layer and paste.  Resize 25% and move to the left side about 1/2 way up the frame.  Duplicate and mirror.  Move to the bottom left behind the jar.  Duplicate and flip.  Move this layer under the paper layer and to the top left.  Duplicate again and mirror.  See mine for placement.

Open element 92, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 15% and move to the middle left side on the vine.  See mine for placement D/S.  Duplicate and mirror.  Move this to the bottom right corner.

Open element 93, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 15% and move to the bottom right just slightly to the left of the lily.  D/S  Duplicate and move this layer just under the jug layer.  Move to the left so it is peaking out from behind the top of the jug handle.  See mine for placement.

Open element 94, copy and close the original.  Select the blue flower layer (on the left) and paste.  Resize 15% and mirror.  D/S  Move to the bottom right just under the present so it peaks out on the top.  See mine for placement.  Duplicate and move to the top left of the frame.  See mine for placement.

Open element 95, copy and close the original.  Select the top layer and paste.  Resize 15% and D/S.  Move to the upper right of the frame.  See mine for placement.

Open element 4, copy and close the original.  Select the frame layer and paste.  Resize 20% and move to the upper left of the frame.  See mine for placement.  D/S.

Open element 6,copy and close the original.  Select the beach sign layer and paste.  Resize 25% and move to the bottom right so he sits in front of the sign.  D/S.

Now we are going to create a gradient for the background (or you can select a paper of choice).  Set your fg to #FFaa00 and BG to  #d95000  Select your FG gradient set to Sunburst repeats 3 and flood fill raster 1.  Apply WSL Mask 241 and merge group.  Image, resize 105% all layers not checked.
